Life Changing Service Dogs for Veterans, the primary sponsor and presenting organization of the Washington County Veterans Assistance Fair, will host the event Saturday, Aug. 29, from noon to 4 p.m. at Nottingham Township Sherwood Park, 909 Sugar Run Road in Eighty Four, Pennsylvania. The community event will bring together organizations that provide resources and services for Washington County Veterans and their families. The event is free to attend and open to the public.
The Washington County Veterans Assistance Fair will provide information about housing assistance, vocational training, recreation programs, service dogs, therapy dogs, companion animals, and bereavement support. Nottingham Township is also sponsoring the event, which is being held under the theme “Celebrating 250 Years of Freedom” as the United States marks its 250th anniversary in 2026.
The fair is designed to help Veterans and their families learn about various forms of assistance and support in a single community setting. Attendees can meet participating organizations and learn more about services related to housing stability, employment opportunities, animal-assisted support, and coping with loss.
Housing assistance resources will address housing needs and stability, while vocational training resources will provide information about job training and employment opportunities. Attendees will also be able to learn about service dogs and therapy dogs and the roles they can play in Veterans’ lives.
Information about companion animals will focus on the human-animal bond and available support. Bereavement resources will provide information for individuals seeking support related to healing and coping with loss. Recreation programs will also be among the resources represented at the event.
“Veterans and their families may need different kinds of support at different points in their lives, and this fair is an opportunity to bring those resources together in one place,” said Bill Jeffcoat, President of Life Changing Service Dogs for Veterans. “As the primary sponsor and presenting organization, our goal is to help Washington County Veterans and their families connect directly with organizations that can provide information, resources, and support.”
Nottingham Township is supporting the Washington County Veterans Assistance Fair as an event sponsor and host location at Nottingham Township Sherwood Park. Life Changing Service Dogs for Veterans is the event’s primary sponsor and presenting organization.

An all-volunteer organization based in Pittsburgh, PA, Life Changing Service Dogs for Veterans has raised over $1.9 million, enabling the gifting of Service Dogs to many Veterans in the region.
